Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat Sailing Certification. You will be able to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on board auxiliary powered sailboats up to 30 feet in length in moderate wind and sea conditions. 

General Description: Able to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on an auxiliary sailboat of about 20 to 30 feet in length, in moderate winds and sea conditions. Basic Coastal is designed to increase the student’s confidence.

Course includes:
Duties of Skipper & Crew Anchoring & Mooring Navigation: tides, currents, piloting, positioning, charts Advanced rules of the road Sailing a compass course Basic weather patterns	Reefing and heaving to tactics "Sail Reefing" in various wind conditions Performance sail trimming techniques Marine head operation Docking under power
